This country huntboard by Michael McDunn is a reproduction of an original which is currently located at Kiawah Island, SC. The original was built in Upsate SC circa-1800, and has found a home at the River Course Clubhouse, lending strength and charm to the surroundings there. Constructed of old-growth pine from Jekyll Island, GA, this reproduction's dimensions are 70" x 22 1/4" x 45". The top, back, and bottom are all single-slab pieces of wood, and the drawer fronts are likewise cut from a single piece of wood and bookmatched. The drawers feature all hand-cut dovetails, front and back, and the body is secured with sturdy mortise-and-tenon joinery. In keeping with the tradition of the original Huntboard, every surface has been hand-planed and hand-scraped. The rich, honey-colored patina was achieved with a finish consisting of hand-rubbed tung oil and beeswax.
