Luis F. Jaramillo Biographical Information Born in Barranquilla Colombia, South America in 1953. I studied Architecture and Fine Art at the Universidad del Atlantico Barranquilla Colombia. My passion for printmaking and painting developed during my youth in Colombia. To expand my knowledge in these two disciplines I studied in the United States at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Clemson University. EDUCATION: 1971-1974 – Universidad del Atlantico, Architecture and Fine Art Studies, Barranquilla, Colombia, South America 1976-1980 Graduate of The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1986-1987 Communication, Arts & Technology, Greenville Technical College, Greenville, South Carolina 1993-1994 Clemson University, Graduate program working towards a Masters Degree Printmaking SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS ---PDF STATEMENT: I began my work spontaneously, guided by the image’s inherent spirit. My gestures are sometimes sweeping and rhythmic, or nervous and dissonant, but the core spirit of my work remains elemental reminiscent of the mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms of a sub tropical Latin America.
