Bob Chance Biographical Statement Bob Chance is a potter and teaches in the Art Department at Furman University. He has been making and exhibiting work for longer He has traveled to Japan and China to look at pottery villages, pots and kilns and to meet potters there. Recently he spent a summer in Cortona, Italy teaching ceramics, examining Etruscan, Greek and Roman pots and making pottery with local clay, kilns and glazes. Born in Sacramento,California, Bob lived with his military family all over the US, Japan and Hawai’i. It was in Japan during the second grade he saw potters at work and this inspired him to work with clay. Bob did his undergraduate work in art at the University of Hawai’i and received his MFA in ceramics at Virginia Commonwealth University.
